The need to have a faith based program that would assist those wanting to recover from addictions in an outpatient program was vital. In June 2004 the project was initiated as a Church Ministry. We started the Friday night meetings for the addicted person and for their family. By July 2006 CIA was incorporated in the State of Florida as a not-for- profit organization. Services like individual counseling; marriage counseling for the couples recovering; Life Skills classes and a 12 Step Program were added. In March 2008 we received 501c(3), tax - exempt status.
In February 2009 we added a re-entry program that consists of doing groups with inmates at 2 local Jails and a Half Way House for Federal Prisoners in Miami Dade. We have participated in Transitional Fairs encouraging those being released from Jail or Prison to continue a recovery support services program upon their release to prevent relapse. We encourage their family to enroll in the program as well. In March 2009 we received 501c(3), tax - exempt status.
In September 2009 we are implemented other services for those recovering and for those being released from jail or prison that want to continue a drug free, productive lifestyle. These services include but are not limited to: Resume writing, basic Computer Skills, Parenting Skills, Stress Management Training, Etiquette, Nutritional and Health orientation.Compassion In Action Ministries is a faith based outpatient program treating addictions and codependency. Our outpatient program allows the person affected by an addiction to begin recovery without abandoning their every day responsibilities. We are committed to providing recovery support services in different areas.
